On August 12, 2022, Gekkō became the latest innovative restaurant opening from Miami’s hospitality legend David Grutman (Groot Hospitality), who partnered with mega recording artist Bad Bunny for the Japanese-inspired steakhouse and lounge. Located in Miami’s hotspot neighbourhood Brickell, Gekkō’s offers a fusion of highly curated signature dishes, surrounded by jewel-toned décor.

The concept of celebrity partnerships in the restaurant industry is not new; but, when we speak of celebrity collaborations with David Grutman, it’s a whole different level. So it’s no surprise that award-winning recording artist Bad Bunny, has partnered with Grutman and his Groot Hospitality team. Groot Hospitality is a master at the game of the hospitality industry; their ventures of successful partnerships speak for themselves.
Grutman's other collaborations with musicians include Pharrell Williams. The duo started with Swan Restaurant in 2018, located in the heart of Miami's Design District. Pharrell and Grutman didn't stop there; their second partnership followed in 2020 with their hotel- The Goodtime Hotel, which offers the Strawberry Moon Restaurant in its 30,000-square-foot spot in South Beach, Miami. Both partnerships are hugely successful, and this new venture with Bad Bunny seems like another ideal match.

So what can we expect from this latest partnership? According to Groot Hospitality Gekkō offers: “premium steak cuts, jaw-dropping sushi inventions, and delicious seafood appetizers. A bespoke cocktail program, an extensive wine list, and bottle service offerings complement the menu. Gekkō’s aesthetic is lush, luxe, and jewel-toned. The restaurant transports visitors to an intimate, rare nocturnal world with design accents like custom wallpaper, dark and rich palettes, and hints of soft golden light. As it happens, the word “Gekkō” itself translates from Japanese to English as “moonlight.”
