1.CA: Describe your favorite visual effect from a movie. Why do you like it?
Fefo: I don’t have only one. To name one of my list of favorites I will go with ”The Matrix.” Among many stunning visual effects, The ’bullet time” sequence was the apex. The innovative scenes were the most beautiful and realistic compositing I’ve ever seen at that time.
2.CA: What was your most challenging visual effects design?
Fefo: Those I’m currently working on, every new project is a new endeavor. It’s a blend of creativity, techniques, talent, speed, perfectionism, pursuit meeting with directors, producers and client expectations.
One very challenging job was “Skyline. Not only for the massive amount of VFX work but that was my “debut” project in a company that had just hired me and sponsored my work visa.
3.CA: Who did you look up to in your field when you were starting?
Fefo: I was looking at commercials, music videos and movies that I liked and set my goals on that. To be the best in my filed.
4.CA: What was your first big project?
Fefo: Big in amount of work was Skyline. Hundreds of CG spaceships, aliens, explosions, and so on. Big in reputation was The Avengers, the first of the franchise we all love.
5.CA: What did it mean for you to be one of the artists responsible for the Oscar the film ‘Life of Pi’ won for VFX? And how did it change your career?
Fefo: It means a lot, a huge sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Oscars are the most important awards in the movie industry, and of course, it was a pleasant time to do the compositing in every frame I’ve worked.
