“The inspiration for The City of Genius comes from a 1960s study according to which 98% of five-year-olds qualified as geniuses. By the time they reached adulthood, however, that percentage decreased to 2%. The process of living and the constraints of growing up somehow de-geniuses the mind.
The challenge for everyone is to keep our internal genius alive, following the example of the creative minds of the Moncler Genius 2024 roster, by keeping their 5-year-old selves alive and kicking.”- Moncler
On October 19, Italian luxury house Moncler unveiled the highly anticipated "The City of Genius" showcase during Shanghai Fashion Week with "a metropolis of immersive experiences acting as a global epicenter of creativity."
The City of Genius co-creators included high profile collaborations and installations from visionary creatives such as Edward Enninful (OBE), NIGO, A$AP Rocky, Rick Owens, Hiroshi Fujiwara, Palm Angels and Willow Smith, who brought “their collections to life through unique neighbourhoods, manifested as physical expressions of their creative inspiration.”
The immersive fashion show featured an unprecedented 30,000 square-meter space of different neighborhoods that showcased new collections, installations and experiences. It was attended by more than 8,000 guests, including Rihanna, Naomi Campbell, Shu Qi, Maye Musk, Leah Dou, Yeonjun of TXT, and Anne Hathaway.
Moncler said:
“Following the belief that we are all born Genius, and uncreative behavior is learned as we grow up in life, Moncler Genius strives to always bring new ideas into existence, unleashing imagination and putting creativity at the very center of everything. The City of Genius will be a place for creative communities to observe, engage and experience what is possible beyond conventions, where luxury, art, design and entertainment collide together.”
