Luis Ger releases his EP "Quién te Viera!" which he created in Los Angeles during the pandemic. Luis Ger, born in Mexico, began to work in the music industry at age 17. Music took him to live in different countries, such as Cuba, which influenced his sounds and allowed him to work with other award-winning artists.
1.) You worked on "Quién te Viera!" with Marteen Andruet, how was it working with him?
He is very experienced, and he knows Latin genres very well, but he's never afraid to introduce his own interesting and innovative ideas, he's not afraid of experimenting but acknowledges when an idea doesn't work; as a producer, it's a very teaching experience to work with him.
2.) You chose a difficult career. What did your family think?
Since I was little and decided to learn piano, my family has supported me in every way possible, cheering me on and providing me with everything that I asked for in my early steps. I'm really grateful and really blessed to have them.
3.) How was Cuba?
It was magical, the perception of the world is very different from what we are all used to both in USA and Mexican culture, it's very open and joyous, music is present in every moment of their lives and you hear it everywhere. I loved that about it, and their music also entices me in a very particular way, so participating in it was a very beautiful experience.
4.) How did it influence your music?
Cuba opened my ears to a different way of listening and feeling music. It was a full immersion into a foreign culture.
5.) Who would you like to work with?
I really admire Sebastian Yatra and Alejandro Sanz’s work, I would really love to collaborate with them next.
6.) What do you think a good musician should have?
I think a good musician needs to be comfortable being vulnerable and unprejudiced towards himself and others.
